Do you reckon I should be aloud to go to Canada on my own? im 16.?

Im 16 & this summer want to travel to Canada alone to stay with someone, so im not staying in a hotel/motel or anything on my own, im staying in a friends house. I'd have to fly from London Heathrow, to Montreal, change plane & then onto Fredericton (my final destination) but my mum is changing her mind all the time about whether or not I can go. Do you reckon i'm too young or anything to go on my own?
